How To Contact Facebook: A Directory of 120+ Forms

If you’ve ever had an issue, bug or situation you needed to contact Facebook about, chances are you may have felt frustrated at how difficult it is to a) find HOW to contact Facebook and b) actually get a response.

Facebook used to provide some semblance of support via a series of email addresses, e.g. info@facebook.com.

Facebook - Contact Us

However, in an effort to better serve its members and scale the support, the only way to reach Facebook is through a vast array of custom forms.

Thing is, all those forms are scattered throughout the Help Center and you can often go on a wild goose chase attempting to find the right one.

Help is at hand! I scoured Facebook (and Google!) for you and have compiled this helpful directory of Facebook’s contact forms. As I become aware of more, I’ll add to this directory.

Please do make your own suggestions and provide any feedback in the comments section below.

Also, I’m always happy to answer questions on my Facebook Fan Page about Facebook; you’re welcome to post your comments/questions here: http://facebook.com/marismith

To quickly search through this directory, simply use the “Find” feature on your browser (usually Ctrl + F on PCs and Apple Key + F on Macs).

General Support

First, here are links to general areas of support:

Report That Your Facebook Personal Profile or Fan Page was Disabled

Facebook disables both personal Profiles and Pages for violating their Terms of Use. They can often be rather heavy-handed though! Use one of these forms as appropriate to submit a report:

Facebook Groups & EventsGet Help With Facebook Groups & Events

NOTE: Once your group reaches 5,000 members, the option to message them will be removed. This measure is in place for technical reasons and to prevent spam.

I trust this compilation is helpful to you! Please do add any suggestions and questions in the comments below!

Also, remember you can often find solutions to your issues by doing a simple search of Facebook’s Help Center. Use the appropriate forms listed here in the event you cannot find a solution and need to contact Facebook.

Plus, as mentioned above, you’re welcome to post your comments/questions on my fan Page and I’ll do my best to answer for you: http://facebook.com/marismith

Special mention to several active members of Facebook’s Help Center (I’m not sure if they are staff members or fellow enthusiasts. In any case, thanks!)

Anybody got any ideas on how i can get FB to stop blocking me from making friend requests? I made one to a local bar in the area i just moved to and as a result facebook blocked me from making additional ones.
  • Wow, that's so odd. Often when Facebook impose a block - whether it's for friend invites or sending messages, for example - the block gets lifted after a period of time. You just need to be patient, I'm afraid!!
  • WOW, I've honestly never seen anything this comprehensive. This is such a detailed list and must have taken hours to compile. Thank you so much for sharing this.

  • My pleasure, Golda!! It did take a while!

Facebook is keeping me out of my account until I can identify photos I have never seen from friends of my account. WTH?
  • Ohhh dear - this has to be one of the MOST frustrating things Facebook has introduced. It's a new form of verification and from what I've seen and heard, there's not much you can do but keep trying. Otherwise, I would try to find one of the forms here that is close to the issue and just use that to contact Facebook.

This is so helpful to have a list like this.
    Thank you

When attempting to register our name for a page I get "Our automated system will not allow the name "winecoop". It may violate our Pages Guidelines or contain a word or phrase that is blocked to prevent the creation of unofficial or otherwise prohibited Pages. If you believe this is an error, please contact our Customer Support team." I contacted them stating that wine.coop is our domain name, but hear nothing back. We are a registered buyers cooperative http://www.nic.coop/whois/wine.coop. We are structured on cooperative principles, and intend to offer an alternative to ~wine.com~ which has a Facebook page with over 16,000 likers http://www.facebook.com/winecom?ref=ts. So if they can do it, why can't we?
  • Oh wow - sounds like a bug in the system. I would just use this form to contact Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/help/contact.php?show_form=username_infringement -- I've had clients use this with success to get the name they wanted that wasn't registering properly for them.

    Good luck!!
  • Thank you for the great list! It is very helpful to have all of these located in one stop.

With all the links you've provided, you havent provided one email address !!!

I just recieved the following email from Facebook:
We have detected that your Facebook account is infected with a form of malware, or virus, called Koobface. You downloaded the virus after receiving a message from a friend, which invited you to view a video. To restore your account, please log into Facebook and follow the instructions you see there.

So i logged on and followed the instructions.
Instruction #1, get a code texted to you. No problem, done.
Instruction #2, paste that code on the page that requested it. PROBLEM. There is no where to paste the code.

So now what do i do?? Am totally frustrated

    Annabelle
  • Sorry to hear of your predicament, Annabelle and apologies for the delay in replying to you.

Gosh, this does sound very fishy indeed. Hmmm, I could swear there was a contact form for this type of issue but am not seeing it. Maybe try this one? http://www.facebook.com/help/contact.php?show_form=disabled

Also, sadly, yes - Facebook does not provide any way to contact them by email anymore. It's all done by these forms.
  • Mari, this is an amazingly and incredibly valuable resource for Facebook users!
  • Bless you - thanks for saying!! :)
  • MichelleLydy
My name is Robert E. Lydy III, I recently got a new cell phone and was trying to access facebook on it. This has disabled my account. When I log on from a computer it gives me a series of pictures to look at. Some of these people I haven't seen since 1988 so I don't recognize them. Then it says it will send a text to my phone for a conformation number and I am not recieving that either. Please email me at MichelleLydy@msn.com to tell me how to rectify this.
  • Nataliemlees
Helpful for most things but my question seems to be an unanswed one.

Someone keeps getting photos of dresses I have made removed from my business page. They are my intellectual property, so how can FB remove them? Thay say I can fill in a form to appeal, but I cannot find this form.

    Thanks

    Natalie

How am I notified if someone "likes" my Facebook Page?
Am I notified of who that is?
  • Hi Cheryl -- no, Facebook does not currently notify fan page owners when someone likes their page.
  • Ron
Mari I have a huge problem! My requests box on my home page disappeared and i am not able to get any gifts or requests. Can you help me? I have looked everywhere
  • Wow, that's odd - sounds like a temporary bug. Did it get resolved yet?
  • Thank you, thank you, thank you! This couldn't have come at a better time. I needed to get a hold of facebook and you made it that easy!
  • great post,. everything under 1 roof. facebook should link this post on their contact page.

Do you know how to contact them to report bullying and death threats being made? They are posted on this persons own profile and I cant see them but a friend of mine printed them out on her computer showing all the things my aunt was saying about my dad. We are going to be filing harassment and slander charges on her but we need to get in contact with facebook. Any ideas where to start at all?

How do you contact facebook after someone has blocked you and are still spreading lies about you and your business on their facebook page.
  • Erin
Thanks for the article and great information Mari! Our company has been facing an issue and I thought you might have some advice. There have been many Facebook pages created using our company name that are in no way associated with or created by us. We have gone in and reported all these pages, but so far, nothing has been done by Facebook to take them down. Do you have any recommendations of what we should do? Would one of the forms you included in your article be appropriate for us to send in in this situation? Thanks for any help or advice you might have! Erin
  • Would it be possible to find assistance with Fan Pages - transferring ownership to the company? I set up a couple of fan pages for my clients and would like to transfer ownership back but don't know how. HELP please!

    Holy cow, this is AWESOME!

    -Rachel-

  • Lol - thank you!
  • I have found that if you Tweet and post something on your Facebook Biz Page about an issue, Facebook finds it and takes care of it.
  • Woah - I've never ever heard of that. You must be the lucky one. lol.
  • Thank You! This material didn't happen by accident. Great stuff.
  • Carolyn
Mari, You are just wonderful, what would we do without you! Thanks for all the valuable information and resources you provide us. This is just sooooo awesome...(I sure hope you had some staff helping on this one!)

    Thanks Again

Wow! Talk about a lot of links. Thanks for sharing all this information with us! My only issue with Facebook and accounts is when you create an account - for a college group or a business, you are permanently the owner/manger of that group. There is no way to pass along the responsibility. Hope Facebook changes that policy soon.
  • Hi Jenna -- glad you found this directory useful! Hm, regards the situation you describe - the only thing you can do as the original creator/admin of a group is leave the group. But, of course, not before first assigning one or more other admins. Then, rejoin the group.
  • Jenna
I've tried that and it doesn't seem to be an option as of now...
  • Tommycrowe
Is there any way to get a record of what I have sent/posted from my account. I am being accused of something i never sent and want proof that It was never sent from my account!! Any help would be appreciated!
  • For emails, you should be able to go into your Sent Items -- but then if something was deleted that can't be proven. There's no Trash unlike other email systems.

For posts, try backing up your Facebook profile with http://socialsafe.net - it's a few dollars for the app but well worth it. This backs up all your content. Again, however, it wouldn't prove that something had not been posted if it got deleted.

    Hope this helps some!

    Mari-

Would you have any insight on the following problem?

I had deactivated my fb account back in March I believe it was when my wife and simply began using her account. Now, all of a sudden, my wife logs on to our account and sees that my old account is active! I don't know why/how/how long ago this happened, but it really ticked her off. Now I'm trying to figure this out, but she won't believe me that I honestly did not reactivate it. We log on to our joint account nearly every day, so I would think it would have been noticed relatively quickly. How can I prove to her that I really did not reactivate my old account behind her back?

I thought deactivating and deleting were the same thing back when I did it, otherwise I would have actually deleted instead of deactivated it. Now I know the difference and will be deleting today...and hoping it's gone in 14 days.
  • Wow, that is really bizarre!! Hmm, yes if you go ahead and follow the instructions above for actually DELETING your account vs deactivating, that should do the trick. How odd that Facebook seem to reactivate after a certain period? I haven't heard anything about that!
  • Awesome Post Mari.. Thanks for putting the time in on this one... (clapping)
  • Well...dear Mari~! Since you posted this list I have found myself returning to it at least daily (if not more~!). So, I guess (!) I can say that it has come in handy...Ha~!
