10 Proven Ways To Improve Your Facebook Reach

Improve Your Facebook ReachMany Facebook fan page owners struggle to get more of their fans to see their posts in the news feed. On average, most Facebook page posts reach a mere 16% of fans in their news feed.

However, the good news is that number could be much higher, like 47% or even more. But the bad news is it could also be much lower, like 2%. So what can you do?

Here are ten ways to reach more of your Facebook fans in the news feed. Below you’ll find the Storify of my session at the first annual Social Media Marketing World, complete with slide deck and my selection of top tweets, packed with even more tips, resources and links to further reading!

(In a hurry? Scroll below the Storify for a short list of the ten tips!)

Here is the short version of the 10 ways to improve your Facebook reach

  1. Track timing and frequency of your posts to find your own sweet spot.
  2. Test audience targeting with individual posts (the little target symbol on the post publisher).
  3. Vary your content type – photos and status updates typically get the highest reach.
  4. Include CTAs (calls to action) – social CTAs and sales/conversion CTAs (see slides 13-15 for further explanation).
  5. Increase your response time – fans expect a response in 30 minutes yet currently the average response time is a whopping 22 hours according to SocialBakers.
  6. Pay for more reach with Facebook’s various ad products.
  7. Host events such as “Live Q&A during xx times” or “Expert Friday.”
  8. Spotlight fans – e.g. Fan of the week, Fan Page Friday.
  9. Run a contest.
  10. Build a Facebook Interest List for your topic – and be sure to add your own page.

I have to disagree with #1. I post on my page maybe 5-6 times a day and get a descent amount of engagement per post. Not everyone is going to see your post if you just post once per day. You have to hit different people at different times. Creating engaging content is key but you also need to heavily experiment so that you know what your fan base really likes and engages with.

    Hi,

This article is really interesting and useful in term of
allowing people to know how to maximize their benefit of using Facebook in
    marketing and advertising..

I highly recommend everyone to start advertising with
Facebook, rather than other social media.

Facebook analyze profile preferences, and shows ads that
have similar characteristics to these preferences.

Also Facebook apply social trending principle, since people
    are connected to each other’s.

So when any Facebook users like any product or ads, this
action will be visible to others in his network and will cause a domino effect,
in which all his network can easily follow and like this product / ads as well.

    Thanks.
