Any suggestions on how to have a profile removed when you are not the one who created it. Someone has created a fake acct in my childs name with photo and false and malicious info. 2 months ago I clicked on the one and only link to report this. The acct is still active and when I click on the link now it says that it has already been reported, but nothing is being done to remove it.

That is so unfortunate. Ya, the way to report a fake profile is indeed to click the “Report Profile” link at the bottom left of the offensive post. Facebook seem to be terribly slow in responding to some of these reports. You might try filling out one of the contact forms here, even if it doesn't quite match your issue.

Hi Mari, I have quite a major problem. I was set to become an admin of a Facebook group, but my friend who was set to make me the admin actually removed themselves as an admin first. So now the group is admin-less and some quite offensive things are getting posted and I’m powerless to help. I’ve contacted all the forms on here but never get anything back off Facebook.

Is there anything you can recommend?

        Many thanks.

    I have a question.

When you got this message: “your publishing rights have been blocked due to a violation of the Pages terms of use”, but Facebook Don't ask you to authenticate that page, what you should to do? I work at that company of that page.

    Thanks all!

I cannot access my FB Profile. Last week I tried to log on and they said that there was “Suspicious Activity” on my account and that I had to “Verify My Account”. They have steps in a system that requires you to identify your Friends Images. I use my account for business and I have 4,900+ Friends and this is an impossible task. They do have a link that allows you to contact them if you have any issues with system. Well I do have an issue and I have contacted them 3 times now and there has been no response. There has got to be a better way. Any ideas? Thanks.

So sorry to hear of this situation. I have a similar approach to my own profile and haven't had to deal with that photo ID feature… yet. It just seems ridiculous – some friends have tagged pictures of landscapes, pets, body parts, you name it. 🙁 Then FB lock you out if you can't get the right number of friends correct.

I know we tweeted a bit on Twitter today; I would actually suggest trying one of the other forms on this directory here… not too off-topic, but sometimes FB seems to respond to certain forms more than others. Perhaps they have a hierarchical system, I'm not sure.

You could try blogging about the situation and getting support from your other communities to build buzz. Often there's power in numbers in a situation like this.

Wish I could be of more help. Contrary to what many folks out there think, I do not have direct contacts inside Facebook that can pull favors for me. 😐

Thanks…I have sent emails to abuse@, appeals@, security@, info@, contact@, advertising@ I have 5 messages to the advertising section telling them that I cannot advertise (which I really want to do) and nothing! Isn't that how they make their money? I even sent one to Zuckerman and nothing.

Any replys that I have received go something like this “Our records indicate that there is no disabled account associated with the email address you are using to contact us” and then they send you back to the Help Page. I have sent over 40 emails over the span of 2 weeks and I have received, maybe 5 emails that do not address the situation at all. It as if they just reply with a form letter that makes them look responsive in order to get you back to the Help Page, where they do not have to deal with you.

I have read in some Forums in which some people are defending the FB lousy service because they are free! I am sorry but they have at least a moral obligation to provide a service. Besides that, it isn't like FB is some start up, they are Billion(s) Dollar Corporation…one would think? I guess if you have 500 Million Customers and a captive audience, who cares if you P.O. a few customers. Thanks again for your help.

Mari, I have a question. When I go to the facebook Ad page and click on “Create an Ad”, I get a message like this…

” * Your account has been disabled. All of your ads have been stopped and should not be run again on the site under any circumstances. Generally, we disable an account if too many of its ads violate our Terms of Use or Advertising Guidelines. Unfortunately we cannot provide you with the specific violations that have been deemed abusive. Please review our Terms of Use and Advertising Guidelines if you have further questions. ”

The thing is.. I’ve never created an Ad on facebook ever! Because this had been there from day 1. The first time I visited this page was out of curiosity and not to create an ad, cuz I’ve never had the need to. And I didn’t bother me that I was unable to create an ad. But now I would like to explore the possibilities of creating an Ad for some of the pages that I’m managing and I’m unable to even attempt to do so. Any idea how I should handle this issue? Please help! Thanks.

Facebook is a useless, bug infested, waste of a site. No way to contact them for a specific problem. They block you for NO REASON and make it impossible to get unblocked. They only verification choice they give you is to identify “friends” in photos, said “friends” being strangers who you wouldn't recognize on the street if they walked right up to you because they are “friends of friends” added for the sole purpose of adding “neighbors” to games.

I would LOVE to contact Facebook to demand every dime of my money back for game cash and items I've bought for those games that are now useless and inaccessible.

    • Just Me on October 28, 2010 at 4:21 am

And they dont block the ones that are reported for abuse…how sad is that?

      • Mari Smith on November 4, 2010 at 4:02 pm

Yes, very sad — I'm not sure what it takes to really get a report noticed and the content removed. 🙁 Seems to take quite some time.
